"Momotaro" is a Japanese folk tale. The word "momotaro" is composed of words "momo" which stands for "peach" and "taro" means "boy". It could be translated as "a boy who comes from a peach". 

     In the tale, there is an old couple with no child. One day, the old woman goes to river to wash clothes. While she is washing, she sees a big peach floating on the river. She takes the peach and discovers that there is a little boy inside the peach. The old couple decide to accept him as their son and call him "Momotaro", as he emerges from a peach. Although Momotaro is just a little child, he is very intelligent and extremely powerful that he can be called a Hercules-like figure.

     Then, bandits come to the village where the old couple live and compel villagers to give their valuable belongings. After that, Momotaro learns it and sets out to find the bandits' whereabouts. During his adventure on the road, he encounters animals such as monkey and dog and the animals become friend of him and they continue to the journey. Finally, they find the place that bandits are hiding and fight with the villain bandits. Momotaro is victorious and he returns to the village with treasure chests full of golds and jewelleries. The story ends with happy ending thanks to Momotaro, who makes old couple and villagers become very happy.
